Have you heard about the new kid on the block? Mealthy is here and they are making a big appearance in the small kitchen appliance scene. Their name is a combination of healthy and meal – Mealthy! After they saw my review on the Mealthy Crisplid they contacted me and wanted to know if I would try and review the Mealthy MultiPot 8 QT Pressure Cooker. Since I was super impressed with the CrispLid which turns a 6 or 8 qt electric pressure cooker into an air fryer – I didn’t hesitate to say yes. I am the proud owner of 4 pressure cookers already and I am sold on pressure cooking. I have a 3 Qt, 2- 6 Qts and an 8 Qt. Sometimes they are all going at the same time – that’s called mega batch cooking! I was very excited when the box arrived with my Mealthy MultiPot 8 qt pressure cooker. As you know and trust I only promote products that I believe in and use myself. I turn down products every week that don’t meet my standards or that I don’t think we would use. I will only review products and recommend them if I believe they will help you and myself on our plant based journey. You will always get my honest opinion about a product I try and demonstrate.

The Mealthy MultiPot 9 in one Pressure Cooker comes with all the bells and whistles that the other top brands have PLUS a lot of extras yet it is at a lower price point! Not only that but we have a discount code Nutmeg10 that will save you $10 on any order of $94.95 and over! That is a win win! It has a stainless steel 8 qt pot, two silicone mitts for handling the pot when it is hot, a measuring cup for rice, a rice paddle, a soup ladle, a stainless steel steamer basket, a steam rack/trivet that is more elevated than most and an extra color coded gasket so you can have one gasket for savory foods and one for sweet! I was very impressed with the extra gasket and steamer basket! Although the Mealthy MultiPot is less expensive than other brands it comes with more accessories. With the other brands you have to purchase many of the standard items that Mealthy includes.

When you first open the box you see a Thank You note for purchasing the Mealthy – what a nice touch! It comes with an easy to read and follow User Guide and a recipe booklet. Granted there are only a couple vegan recipes but it gives you some ideas and of course we can veganize almost anything right? The Getting Started Guide walks you through the water test which allows you to familarize yourself with the Mealthy and for you to see how to use the appliance properly. Easy – peasy! The Cheat Sheet gives you quick at a glance references for the different functions on one side and when you flip it over there is a handy table for the preset pressure cooking programs. There is also a High Altitude Pressure Cooking chart to help you adjust your cooking times accordingly and the other side has pictures along with cooking times for common foods.

Mealthy has a free App for your smart phone that has “How To” videos, recipes and more! Got questions? Mealthy has a toll free number you can call 1-800-281-0146. I feel like they have tried to think of everything the consumer will need to use their MultiPot Pressure Cooker succesfully. We are partnering with Mealthy and we have a DISCOUNT CODE Nutmeg10 for $10 off with a minimum $94.95 order. Here is our Affiliate link for Mealthy The Mealthy Summer promotion is free shipping too!
How did it work? We made a video to show you. One of the reasons I like an 8 qt pressure cooker is the large capacity for a big pot of stew like the one I demonstrated in the video. Also you can cook a large amount of corn on the cob or 4 large artichokes all at the same time. It’s great for batch cooking, pot lucks and entertaining too. The Mealthy also comes in a 6 quart size which is perfect for so many recipes, traveling and cooking for one or two people.

I decided to go with a tried and true recipe so I could compare it against my results making the same recipe in my other brand of an 8 qt pressure cooker. The results were exactly the same! I tried the saute function and the pressure cooking setting and all went smoothly. The Hearty Lentil Vegetable Stew was just as delicious as it usually is! I like the LED screen and how it tells you what stage it is in at any given time so you aren’t guessing. It works equally as good as my other brands of pressure cookers but it is a better value because it costs less and comes with more accessories!

Hearty Lentil Vegetable Stew – 8 QT Pressure Cooker
Equipment
- 8 qt. pressure cooker
Ingredients
- 4 cup onions
- 3 cup diced or sliced carrots
- 2 cups diced celery
- 4 cups peeled diced potatoes – I I like Yukon Gold potatoes
- 3 cups green/brown lentils – rinsed and drained
- 1 cup red lentils – rinsed and drained
- 8 cups low sodium vegetable broth – store bought or homemade – I use Engine2 brand from Whole Foods Market
- 2 cups water
- 2 cans (14.5 oz eacdiced fire roasted tomatoes – I like Muir Glen Organic no salt added
- 4 teaspoons Herbs de Provence seasoning mix*
- 1 tablespoon Table Tasty Salt Substitute or your favorite salt substitute
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon Sweet Paprika
Reserve the following to add after the pressure comes down:
- 2 cups frozen peas or corn or green beans
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1-2 teaspoons more Herbs de Provence
Instructions
- Set the Mealthy 8 QT Multi Pot pressure cooker to saute – when hot add the onions, carrots and celery and a couple tablespoons of the low sodium vegetable broth. Saute just until vegetables are no longer raw – 3-4 mintues – they are going to cook when under pressure so we are just giving them a little head start.
- Add the potatoes, green lentils, red lentils, vegetable broth, water, fire roasted tomatoes, Herbs de Provence, Table Tasty, freshly ground black pepper and sweet paprika to the pot. Put the lid on and make sure the venting valve is turned to sealing. Set the time to 6 minutes high pressure.
- Let the pressure come down naturally, then open the lid carefully tipping the lid away from you. Add the frozen peas, balsamic vinegar and a little additonal Herbs de Provence to boost the flavor. I always taste it and then decide how much to add. Put the lid back on and let the peas get good and hot.
- The flavor of this stew is beyond ordinary – I use Herbs de Provence which is a lovely blend of thyme, marjoram, savory, rosemary, basil, sage and lavender. It’s available in most spice sections at the grocery store. I bought a big jar of it at Trader Joe’s last winter and at one time Costco had it too but I haven’t seen it lately at either store. If you can’t find it in your local grocery you can make a jar of your own by using 2 tablespoons of each spice listed and give them a stir to combine – Thyme, Marjoram, Savor, Rosemary, Basil, Sage and Lavender. You could sub an Italian Seasoning Mix for the Herbs de Provence and the flavor profile would be similar – not exact but similar and quite good.

What is your daily and weekly menu? And what is AJ’s daily and weekly menu?
Thank you in advaned.
I don’t have a daily / weekly menu. On my Nutmeg Notebook Instagram account and my Facebook page I post some “What I Ate In A Day” posts with photos, descriptions and recipe links when applicable.
Can you freeze this stew? This seems like a lot. If it can’t be frozen, I will cut in half.
I always freeze some of this soup! It freezes well. Enjoy!
Is this too much for the 6qt Ipot?
If making it in a 6 qt cut the recipe in half and the cooking time remains the same.
Tami, thanks for this review of the Mealthy Pot. I don’t need one but I will keep it in mind and tell others to get it and do so through your affiliate link. It did make me decide to try the Hearty Lentil Vegetable Stew. It sounds yummy and I need something new.
The lentil Stew looks wonderful! If we half the recipe for 6 qt pressure cooker, do we cook it the same amount of time?
Yes the cooking time remains the same. Happy Cooking!
Hi Tami, I wish I found your website before I got my mealthy 6qt. I previously owned an Emeril 8qt but now that it’s only for me cooking I got the smaller on and missed out on the discount. I also got the crisp lid. I am nervous with the pressure cooker so far all my vegetables are coming out mushy and then I c@nt airfry with the lid? I find the cheat sheet confusing maybe you can show this on utube or your website tutorial? Thank you
Hi Francine,
I am sorry you are having trouble using your pressure cooker. Here is how I make vegetables in my 6 qt Instant Pot it should work with your Mealthy as well if you can’t set the time to 0 then try 1 minute. As a rule I don’t air fry already cooked vegetables – air fry raw zucchini, mushrooms, corn on the cob, asparagus and brocolli until cooked to your preference. I hope this helps!
Happy healthy cooking,
Tami

Awesome to know – thank you for sharing Ilene!
What is the best way to reheat a dozen lentil muffins at a covered dish dinner? We will have oven and microwave.
I have never heated up so many at once we usually just heat them up in the microwave oven. Can you take them uncooked and then cook them in the oven to serve? If not I would heat them up in the microwave oven I guess – I don’t know how long because it would depend on the microwave. Just start with a few minutes and add minutes as needed.
Just made this today on the stove top and it turned out delicious! I added 3 tablespoons of tomato paste to deepen the flavor a bit. Ate it for lunch and was able to freeze twelve hearty portions for meals in the future. I recently discovered your website and YouTube channel and am loving all the information and meal ideas. Thank you!
Hi Penny,
I am so glad you enjoyed the recipe. Nice addition of the tomato paste!
Happy Cooking,
Tami
Hi Tami,
I am new to your site and love it. I have been watching you and Tom on Youtube and enjoy your presentations plus I’m learning so much! I am also a fan of Chef AJ.
I am sold on the chopped salad even though I’ve never had it–and guess what? I live about 30 minutes from Holland and I am going there in person–hopefully–next week! (I’ll mention you sent me with your delicious recipes) Also, I am considering purchasing a pressure cooker and like your reviews on both the Mealthy 8 qt. and the crisper (I am new to this lifestyle but believe in it.) When I went to the affiliate link I noticed that their were 6 quart stainless steel liners and steamers–do you know–are those so you can fit them into the original 8 quart pressure cooker? I wonder simply because I was considering a 6 qt. and thinking that the 8qt. could be too big for me. (?)
Thanks for introducing me to these products as well as great support and instruction. 🙂
Hi Sheree,
Thank you for you kind comments – I am so glad you found us too! Welcome to the wonderful world of plants.
The extra liners are just for use in the same size pressure cooker. The 6 qt liner would be too small to use in the 8 Qt pressure cooker. Some people like an extra liner for making multiple recipes one right after the other I guess. The 8 QT is nice of you batch prep or are feeding a lot of people at one time. If you don’t do a lot of cooking ahead or large batches of food or entertaining then the 6 QT would be fine.
Happy Cooking,
Tami
The Mealthy site says not in stock. Can’t seem to find the 8 Qt anywhere. Did they discontinue them or something?
Hi Yvonne,
They sold out over the holidays. They will be restocking very soon! When they have more stock I will post on facebook.
Happy New Year,
Tami
