Raw Berry Crisp

An elegant yet easy dessert recipe that everyone can enjoy. If berries are not in season try using peaches, mangoes and pineapple. In the fall choose crisp apples and ripe pears. Use the topping on your favorite plant based yogurt or dress up your banana nice cream with a sprinkle of deliciousness.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups mixed berries (feel free to use more berries) such as blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and sliced strawberries
  • Topping
  • 1 tablespoon date syrup or maple syrup more or less to taste depending on sweetness of berries or skip it.
  • 1 cup raw pecans
  • 1/2 cup raw walnuts
  • 1/2 cup pitted dates roughly chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

Instructions
 

  • In a (9- x 13-inch) dish, toss berries with syrup if using. Put pecans, walnuts, dates and cinnamon into a food processor and pulse until coarsely ground. Scatter nut mixture over berries and serve immediately, or chill until ready to serve.

Notes

Use different fruits depending on the season and what is available.
Use your favorite nuts and change it up for different flavors.
Use the topping on plant based yogurt with or without fruit, sprinkle on top of your favorite banana nice cream or Ninja CREAMi creation.
Make individual servings in ramekins or small dessert bowls to make serving to a crowd quick and easy.
