Let’s get saucy today with healthy vegan sauces that will jazz up your whole food plant based meals. They say that the best seasoning is hunger but I think you will agree with me that a delicious sauce can take a meal from mediocre to scrumptious!
I was recently on Chef AJ’s The Truth About Weight Loss Summit where I shared all about some of my favorite sauces. It was a well received cooking demonstration that I didn’t want you to miss out on.

Four of my favorite low calorie density, yet flavorful sauces are my Vegan Alfredo, Classic Marinara, Chipotle Nacho Cheeze Sauce and Tami’s Easy Red Salsa. These are all simple and easy to make yet they are big on flavor. They can transform your favorite vegetables, starches and healthy plant foods into incredibly delicious entrees.
We made a video with many ideas on how to use these sauces to create delicious satisfying meals.

Chipotle Nacho Cheese Sauce is absolutely one of our favorites. We make a batch of this every week.

These Ponacho’s can be a quick and easy meal using canned beans and frozen corn plus the Chipotle Nacho Cheeze Sauce or you can kick it up a notch and make your own seasoned beans for even more flavor.

This Mexican Chopped Salad uses the warm Chipotle Nacho Cheeze Sauce and makes for an amazing flavorful salad.

This is one of my clean out the fridge meals. I take whatever leftover vegetables I have and water saute them, add some beans or grains or both and top with the cheese sauce. It turns lowly leftovers into something special. That is some freshly ground Black Cumin Seeds on top.

You have to try some corn on the cob drizzled or drenched in Chipotle Nacho Cheeze Sauce and some fresh cilantro. Holy moly is this ever good. You can Air Fry Corn on the Cob, Grill Corn or cook it in the Pressure Cooker.

Stuff a potato instead of air frying potatoes. It’s quick, easy and filling. Top it with the cheeze sauce and the salsa for double the flavor.

Tostados or nachos using Chili Taco Lentils or your favorite beans and more of that delicious Chipotle Nacho Cheeze Sauce will make your tummy happy! Air fry your corn tortillas to make No Oil Chips or tostado shells. Add some home made salsa as well.

This Vegan Alfredo Sauce is velvety smooth and made without any nuts! Hard to believe you can achieve this much creaminess with cauliflower. This has quickly become a very popular recipe. It’s lovely over zucchini noodles or your favorite pasta.

Take a hot baked potato and top it with lightly steamed or sautéed vegetables – add onions and mushrooms if you wish – oh my goodness is this ever a satisfying meal. Alfredo Sauce over your favorite grain with some vegetables is a delightful casserole of comfort.

Sometimes I can’t decide which sauce I want, so I go with Half & Half! Half Alfredo and half Classic Marinara. If you enjoy your sauce over zucchini noodles you may need to have some starch on the side to fill you up.

This Classic Marinara is so easy to make you won’t believe how tasty is for so little work. Zucchini noodles work well here or you can use your favorite pasta.

Another option is to oven roast a spaghetti squash – cut it in half, scoop out the seeds – 400 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Take some Classic Marinara and add cooked lentils or your favorite grain or some white beans. Fill the squash with your sauce mixture. Add a little of my Faux Parmesan Sprinkle add some fresh basil and eat up!

If you have some time on the weekend make sure to try my vegan Mushroom Spinach Lasagna. It feeds a crowd, freezes well and children love it.

When you make your own salsa you get to control the heat and sodium. In the winter time I use this Tami’s Easy Red Salsa recipe that uses canned tomatoes. It is surprisingly delicious.

Salsa on salads is a nice alternative to salad dressing or an addition to salad dressing. I also add it to my Ponacho’s or stuffed baked potatoes. It can be a wonderful dip for raw veggies too. Try some jicama sticks in salsa – yum.

Make your own Burrito Bowl at home. Fill the bottom of the dish with chopped greens, then add hot brown rice, the Cumin Black Beans from the Ponacho recipe, water sautéed onions and peppers, corn and Tami’s Easy Red Salsa. Green onions, fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lime finish it off beautifully. You can set up all the ingredients and let your family make their own custom bowl.
